Description
This is a unique Carney Lansford game-used Louisville Slugger bat that features a detailed inscription and autograph by Hall of Fame shortstop Luke Appling. The very popular White Sox player was a member of Chicago’s southside squad for 20 years, interrupted only by a brief stint in the military. Appling signed this bat approximately 25 years ago, long before collectors began requesting “career stat” items. This is a one-of-a-kind item that any collector or game historian will want for their own. Appling’s inscription on the bat reads as follows: “I played SS for the Chicago White Sox for 20 years 1930-50 20 months in the US Army. I won two AL Batting Titles 1936 – .388, 1943 – .328, I hit .300 or higher for 15 seasons. My stats are .310 Batt Avg. 2,740 Hits Elected to the Hall of Fam in 1964 – Luke Appling.” Appling died in 1991, but his likeness appears larger than life at US Cellular Field in Chicago where he remains a White Sox icon. Carney Lansford played for the Angels, Red Sox and A’s during his 15-year major league baseball career. This bat is accompanied by James Spence Authentication.
