The Mets are honoring all-time franchise great Dwight Gooden by retiring his #16 jersey in the 2024 season. Gooden was one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball with the Mets in 80s. He won the 1984 NL Rookie of the Year Award and finished 2nd in Cy Young voting that season. In 1985, he won the Cy young and achieved the pitching triple crown. The following season he led the Mets’ pitching staff on the way to a World Series championship. In his Mets’ career, he had an incredible 65% win percentage and an ERA of 3.10.
