Ashburn played in the Major Leagues from 1948 through 1962, spending the vast majority of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies, and two seasons with the Cubs before spending his last year with the Mets. Ashburn was lifetime .308 hitter with more than 2,500 hits and 586 RBI. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.
